Getting Insomniac, Meditation is the Solution


Studies tell that with the improvement in quality of life and living standards, sale of slipping pills have increased exponentially. With the revolution of social media, smart phones and easy internet access, people are getting insomniac. Facebook, twitter, what’s app etc are some of those names which plays an important role in reducing the sleeping hours. Moreover the lust for money and craziness for getting name and fame is not allowing people to sleep. “Sound sleep”, is a phrase which sounds too old. People are getting insomniac and the disease is leading to addictive sleeping pills and drugs. Studies tell that once indulged in these pills, it is almost impossible to get a sleep without them. In order to eradicate this issue, a research occurred, and the results were surprising.


The research involved fifty insomniacs who were not able to sleep without drugs or medicines. Half of them were kept in a hygienic environment, that could help them in a good sleep. They were helped in establishing a good routine for the day including proper time to sleep. Also, they were kept off from drugs, alcohol, caffeine and other such stuffs, while the other group was made to practice meditation. A certified teacher taught them meditation and the group practiced it for six weeks. 

They were made aware of non judgmental thoughts and ideas, popping in the mind, leading to insomnia. They realized that these thoughts drift the mind from an equilibrium state to a disturbed one which made the sleep very difficult job. Through meditation, they practiced to control the thoughts and stop them to move from equilibrium to disturbed zone. After a certain time period, random guys were chosen from both the groups for examination and the success of research. The results were like bolt from blue to the researchers. The first group which was miles away from caffeine, alcohol and addictive medicines was still facing problems in having a sound sleep while the guys who practiced meditation found it easy.

People who meditated had lesser anxiety, depression, fatigue and insomnia as compared to those who got standard care, quality life and medical experts monitoring. That’s the power of meditation. In the countries like America, where these issues are very common, meditation training center are opening at a terrific rate because people have realized that this is the permanent solution, while the sleeping pills are potential.

Experts say that meditation not only helps in getting proper sleep but it has certain uncountable number of benefits too. Apart from gaining concentration, remembrance power, meditation helps in mental peace too. Some of the times, the very reason for insomnia is high blood pressure and meditation is the key to lower it. 

On the physical level, improvisation of immune system and decrement in tension related pain like headaches, ulcers etc are some of the other benefits of meditation. Acharya Ravi Shankar says that at mental level, meditation can decrease anxiety level, tension, anger and frustration. Increment in creativity, happiness, intuitions and focus are those other benefits of meditation through which world is relying upon it. Ultimately, solving of the issues like anxiety, headache, tension etc is the solution of insomnia.

In easy words, meditation is the key to get rid of all sufferings. A proper sleep is the root of healthy life, and the most efficient and easy way to get a sound sleep i.e. a healthy life is practicing meditation. There are certain options from where one can learn practicing meditation viz. yoga teachers, academy, internet etc. Go for it. Happy sleep, happy life.
