A proud fact for all Hindus is – Hinduism stands third in the list of world’s population. Over billion persons in this world belong to Hinduism. It occupies nearly 15% of world’s total population. Top two being Christianity and Islam respectively. Hindus are spread out all throughout the world, even in remote places. The flag of Hinduism shines all over the world in numerous temples. The most concentration of them, though, is found in Asian countries.
The best thing about Hinduism which sets it apart from most other religions is that it has no governing body, no centralized religious authorities; one has the choice to follow one or many Gods among millions of Gods and Goddesses. Further, more Hinduism has proved to the world that its rituals are advance and more scientific than even our modern science. The epic religious books are the best collection for discovering the hidden treasure to live a better life and achieving the Ultimate One upon specific practices.
Today, we bring the list of top ten countries which has the habitat of largest Hindu population in the world. According to Wikipedia, the list in decreasing order –  India, Nepal, Mauritius, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, United States, Malaysia, Myanmar, United Kingdom and South Africa.


India-The Land Of Hindus

India is also called “Hindustan” in Hindi which is its official language. It is the second largest country in terms of population. Nearly 89% of world’s total Hindus live here. The beauty about India is even after such large Hindu population, it has mentioned itself as secular and coexists peacefully with the various other religions like brothers and sisters.Holy Hindu temples are spread out all over its sacred land and are pilgrim places for numerous foreigners. Millions of visitors enjoy the beauty of temples and its sacred touch every day.

Nepal-

The surprising and interesting fact of Nepal is, it has the largest majority of Hindu population with nearly 87% of its total population. The national calendar of Nepal is also a solar Hindu Calendar which is common in Northern India and it is totally based on Vedic Principles. The pennant is an important and significant Hindu flag that put on the top of every Hindu temple there.

Mauritius-

Nearly 48% of the total population in Mauritius is now Hindu.Hinduism spread there with the Indians started to work under European there. It has the highest percentage in the whole of Africa. ISKCON has a strong presence there with several note-able temples around the country.Maha ShivaRatri is celebrated by Mauritius.Even festivals like Diwali, Makar Shankrati and Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated colorfully.

Noted for its several remarkable Hindu temples, Indonesia comes fourth in the list with over 4 million Hindus.Bali has the highest concentration of Hindu population with nearly 85% people are Hindu in that region.They also maintain holidays of several Hindu occasions.

Pakistan-

It is interesting to find that Pakistan occupies the fifth position, which is mostly known for Islam dominated country.There has always been some tension regarding borders, yet our neighbor peacefully provides shelter to roughly 3 million Hindus. After partition, several Hindus and Sikh crossed the border to live in Pakistan,but ever since then population of Hindu has been decreasing there.Pakistan has several Hindu temples and enjoys a secular status.

Sri Lanka-

It has always had a tradition of Hinduism prevalent throughout. Nearly 13% of the total population is Hindu. Sri Lanka is home to the five abodes of Shiva, which are known as Pancha Ishwarams.There are many well-established popular Hindu post-secondary Hindu institutes.They are numerous wonderful Hindu temples which draw enormous tourism all throughout the year.

United States-

A state which the world looks after,US adobes nearly 1.5 million Hindus. Several being Indian Americans, believers in Krishna, and the conversion in to Hinduism from other religion mostly Christians. ISKCON is one the best temple in US where thousands of Hindus and Christians visit on daily visit for spiritual inspirations.Several remarkable Hindu ashrams are placed in US like that of Isha Foundation, The Art Of Living and so on.

Malaysia-

malaysia-49-1Most Hindus are settle in the western parts of Pennisular Malaysia.Temples are dedicated to specific deities.Rituals are performed in Hindi and English.Occasions like Diwali, Navaratri and Pongal are also celebrated vibrantly.

Myanmar(Burma)-

Nearly 1 million people are Hindu.They are called Burmese Hindus.Hindus are diverse there as their origins belong to different states of India.So, regional languages are also spoken among the mass.

United Kingdom-

It is the residence of nearly 0.8 million Hindus.Its Hindu population is growing as we find after subsequent census.Most Hindus are prevalent in England,Wales,Scotland.Several notable temples are worth visiting.

South Africa-

Various province in South Africa have been an abode for over half million Hindus.It has a history with the great Mahatma Gandhi.Building temples were banned in 1910.But now there are many Hindu temples and many festivals are observed happily.
So wherever you go, wherever you are, you will always find Hindu, you will always feel like our home.
